ABOUT ME

I am Billy Gresick

Songwriter/Composer/Music designer

I was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, started music lessons at age seven with the drums, After a few years of getting the basic skills, I started lessons on the organ/ keyboard “The Blue bells of Scotland” was not one of my favorites, in fact, playing that tune irritated the shit out of me, so I really never got past that lesson but, the notes stuck and something in me was sounding thick and fat in my memory even though I still hated that tune the sounds formed something that made sense and added to the desire to keep searching out other sound patterns within my own creativity efforts.

I was part of millions of others when we as a nation became awe struck with the sound of the “ British invasion.

Welcome “The Beatles”, the song factory, was always there before, working out of New York City, Manhattan with the ideas and stories that were two to three minutes with a beginning middle and end.  These songs and the music had revealing thoughts, that exploded and filled me with feelings, and imagery, in my eyes they all became small pieces of art each with there own distinct style.

I wanted to be this kind of artist who can create and perform stories, with feelings and events like a troubadour telling a tail of wonder and bravery, pain failure, and tragedy.

Through the sixties bands came and went they called them one hit wonders some leaving a notable mark some just a passing phase, but each had a unique hook or temperament that stuck in your mind.

During this time in my life, everyday became exciting with all the new endless possibilities that were being express to entertain which offered new insights for us to see hear and feel.

I entered the US Coast Guard in 1970 and through the next four years I bought my first guitar, played around with it on my own and managed my own thoughts, trying to stayed true to what I was searching to become, something I felt I wanted, and needed to do, yet I could not put a title or vocation title on it at that time. After my service I entered a community college and earned a degree in fine arts music.

I stayed a short while in Delaware, running a bait and tackle shop for my father, then I set my sights on Golden California fresh air, mountains, surf, and a new beginning making my way to California in the 80's.

Finding the love of my life. My wife, and I started our family my anchor in life and support.

My songwriting and performing through the years have kept my creative passion going, singing open mic, that have opened doors for myself and other singer songwriters.  I like writing both lyrics and music. Most of my songs are from my own life's experience, or I just fabricate stories and tails for entertainment and enjoyment.
